Previous | Contents | Next Download the eBook The quickest way to go out of business is to be romantic about how you make your money. — Gary Vaynerchuk These posts lay out lessons from 50 years listening to successful social photographers — in other words, those who’re paid by the people in their viewfinder —  not by their boss, or by newspaper editors, book publishers, corporations or advertisers. Not art or decor sold in online stores either. We used to say that Queensberry’s clients were mid- to high-end photographers and those who aspire To View More >>

“Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known.” – Oscar Wilde In this series we shine a light on artists expressing their individuality, documenting what they love, working hard on their craft, and sharing it with the world. We took a deep dive into Auckland-based landscape and automotive photographer, Josh Hilliam’s mind to discuss his process of chasing down the wild coastline. How did you get started in photography? For me, photography started with playing around with a GoPro and a building obsession for aesthetic looking photos. It became a To View More >>

The lead up to the holidays can be a very lucrative time for photographers, but it can also put pressure on getting product orders in on time, so your clients can have them for the holidays. One way to be very prepared is to bulk order Slip-in Mats and Studio Boxes. In Pearl or Carbon Buckram, these Boxes sell themselves. You can personalise them with your own logo on the lid. Branding products like this turns them into your silent salesmen when your clients take them home. Any unsold boxes or mats can carefully be tucked away for your next print reveal. Sometimes, it’s the little things that make us smile and these wee "heirlooms" will become more valuable with every passing year. They're mini canvases from a gorgeous home shoot by Justin Aitken. We took a few minutes to enjoy them w hile Helen added the finishing touches, and we'd really love to see how they look on the wall. With the canvas re-launch, and the holiday season now upon us, the lab has been even busier than usual. The response has been amazing and we’re blown away, as always, by the calibre of the photographs we see. Victoria x P.S. To View More >>

Just a quick reminder that this weekend is our cut-off date to guarantee you receive your album orders before our end-of-year closedown. Don’t worry too much if you think you might miss the deadline by a day or two, but do get your order in as soon as possible! We’ll be working really hard to get everything out before the holidays — even orders placed in late November/early December. And unlike our competitors we don’t charge rush fees. The advantage of ordering earlier is that you get to the top of the queue and we have more time to make sure everything's correct and to To View More >>

We’re truly grateful to the hundreds of photographers from around the world who took part in our Bragging Rights promotion. Here, in no particular order, are the people whose work we chose to celebrate the love and laughter, vibrant cultures, dramatic environments and compelling stories we see every day in the books and albums we make... So you're tempted by our special offer, and you've decided to add Q-Frames, Q-Boxes and Q-Books to your Workspace shopping cart. Maybe it's your first time selling online! How much should you charge? Finding the sweet spot between too cheap and too expensive can be tricky. Ask yourself: 1. What costs must the price cover? For example will you need to edit or artwork the images? If so was the work included in the price of the shoot or do you need to charge for it now? 2. What's the market price? How much would people in your market expect to pay for products like these from a photographer like To View More >>

Simon and Sophie were married in Taormina, Sicily after choosing a destination wedding for them and their friends and family. They were photographed by Phil Drinkwater from Manchester. Their wedding day preparation began in their traditional Sicilian Villa and the ceremony took place at the end of the main street in an old building via an interpreter. A key moment was walking through the street towards the bar for canapés with the Sicilians passing by wishing them congratulations - a truly unique experience. They spent the rest of the day chatting with friends while taking in the stunning views To View More >>
